James Peterson calls Chuck Might "The best damn kick-ass piano player in the country!"
Chuck Might has been entertaining audiences around the country for over 25 years. He has toured all over the country and Canada with Sam Lay, James Petersen, Buddy Miles, Lou Pride, Rev. Raven & The Chain- Smokin' Altar Boys, and Willie Higgins. He has shared the stage with performers from Roy Orbison to Jimmy Rogers. During a five and a half year stint in Austin, Tx he worked with The Rhythm Rats, Al Dressen's Super Swing Review (with Phil Mabry on Fiddle and Paul Glass on Mandolin) and opened with his own band for Evan Johns & The H-Bombs at the famous Black Cat Lounge on 6th St. He has been recording since 1978, most recently on Terry Frank's "Blues In The Night" on Slidestone Records, Lou Pride "Twisting the Knife" on Ichiban Records, and the upcoming Bluescasters CD "Stickin' By You" to be released August, 23, 2001. In 1999, Chuck was nominated for a WAMI award for Wisconsin's keyboard player of the year for the second consecutive year, and the band won best blues band both years he was a member. Ryan "Little Roz" Rossebo brings a youthful exuberance to the group. Although he has just turned 18, he already possesses the touch and feel of a seasoned bluesman. Rather than one of the recent glut of "Stevie Ray clones" he has an individual style that is both forceful and subtle. He has soaked up guitar licks fom the best bluesmen, and turned them into his own. After a short time taking lessons from Rev. Raven Ryan showed him what he had come up with for Rev's licks. Rev. said, "I should have paid him!" Ryan's attention and dedication to his craft is quite evident at any Bluescaster show. Ryan also co-wrote two of the CD's songs with his father Bill. Ryan "Little Roz" Rossebo's Photo Page Dave Braun is one of the most intricate and vibrant drummers to be found anywhere. Truly world class, he is probably best known as a former member of the popular group The Spanic Boys with whom he recorded 2 albums including one which was nominated for a Grammy award. As a result, Dave has appeared on David Letterman and Saturday Night Live. Dave also gained notoriety as a member of The Mosely's, a pop- rock trio that released many CD's of original material that gained them the attention of major labels. Although they had a lot of pop influences, Dave's strong repertoire of blues was never far away. He is also an accomplished vibes player, a skill he employs when performing with The Swing-A- Matics. Dave penned 3 songs on the new CD, including the title cut, and his writing brings a little taste of something different to the band.
Bassist Drew Rittgers is also a former member of Rev. Raven and The Chain Smokin' Altar Boys. He has played with Big Nick & the Zydecos and True Heart Susie as well as serving as musical director of Milwaukee Rock Opera. Not only does he play a superb electric bass, he excels at stand-up as well. He not only lays a solid foundation, but his tasty variations, along with Dave's masterful drumming gives the band a dynamic and exciting rhythm section. Showing his many talents, he also plays tuba instead of bass on one song on the new CD. The band will occasionally also include special featured performers, most often Paul "Gilligan" Brunner on saxophone who also appears on the new CD. Gilligan is an exciting performer sure to get the crowd movin' and groovin' to his wailing sax. Paul "Gilligan" Brunner's Photo Page On occasion other guests are invited, including guest vocalists. Chuck has always liked the idea of keeping things new and fresh. Get The Bluescasters schedule! A Music Umbrella Production For Bookings, contact Anvil Productions: 920-739-7177
Taking a break from leading The Bluescasters in the fall of 1998, he joined Reverend Raven & The Chain-Smokin' Altar Boys, while two of The Bluescasters, Robert Allen, Jr. and Jason Cizinsky, joined forces with Rick Holmes to form Zoot Suit Boogie. In July of 2000, Chuck left The Rev and formed the new Bluescasters, immediately setting to work on the new CD, writing 5 of the songs. Through the band's energetic shows, they have built up a steady and loyal following, with radio stations even getting requests for the new songs that aren't released yet. In 2001, The Bluescasters were nominated for a WAMI as best blues band in Wisconsin.
